Kitakata  has many Kura (traditional storage buildings) and is known as the town of Kura.

The Kitakata City Museum of Art is located on the west side of Kitakata City. This area is a cultural zone, with the Kitakata Plaza Cultural Center, the gymnasium and baseball field at Oshikirigawa Park, and the traditional warehouse museum, Kuranosato.

The museum is built in the style of a traditional brick warehouse, built to match the architecture of the town, using the bricks of Kitakata’s historic brick kiln. The museum is small and in harmony with its surroundings.

We plan and hold special exhibitions loved by locals and exhibitions that families can enjoy mainly during the summer vacation.

The goal of the Kitakata City Museum of Art is to become a community-based museum.
